Celebrity News Rooftop Terrace

In early summer 2017, Celebrity Constellation revealed a bold refresh. Guests sailing on the revitalized ship can now indulge in the ever-popular Qsine and the addition of the Rooftop Terrace with the iconic Taste of Film experience.

Taking over the space where Ocean Liners Restaurant once floated, Qsine is a fan favorite serving a modern take on familiar dishes from around the world. And the Rooftop Terrace is a new hot spot to kick back under the stars in the middle of the ocean. Cocktails and movies are presented alfresco amidst sea breezes. A Taste of Film features a unique fusion of film and food, where delicious bites and drinks inspired by the movie are served during the show to heighten the experience.

Finally, all Penthouse and Royal Suites were updated with powder room refreshes, while the rest of the suite areas now feature plush new furniture, artwork, carpeting, drapes, and bed linens, promising guests the most comfortable, relaxing modern luxury experience.

Moveable Feast with Celebrity Cruises

Last December, guests had the opportunity to cruise with renowned Miami chef and James Beard Award-winner Michelle Bernstein for an island-hopping journey through the Caribbean. And in April, there is an escape to Bermuda with two-time James Beard Award-nominated chef Bryan Voltaggio.

It’s all part of the modern luxury brand’s iconic culinary partnership with Fine Cooking magazine and its Emmy Award-nominated Public Television series Moveable Feast.

The partnership infuses Moveable Feast-inspired activities and flavors into the onboard culinary experience with a smorgasbord of unique offerings. It’s the opportunity of a lifetime to sail with the chefs, attend chef-led demonstrations, and join them on intimate excursions.

“We’re absolutely thrilled to announce our partnership with Fine Cooking magazine and Moveable Feast,” said Lisa Lutoff-Perlo, president and CEO, Celebrity Cruises. “After all, it’s a show that blends two of the things we love most—and do best—traveling beyond borders to places that will inspire you and creating flavors that will thrill your palate like never before.”

Making a Difference with Malala Fund

On April 27, 2017, Celebrity Cruises announced a two-year partnership with the Malala Fund, inspired by Malala Yousafzai, the youngest-ever Nobel Peace Prize recipient, as well as a UN Messenger of Peace. The nonprofit’s mission is to secure 12 years of safe, free, quality education for every girl in the world.

Malala began her life as an activist at 11 years old, writing a secret blog about life under the Taliban in Pakistan, who would not permit girls to go to school. She was targeted for her advocacy and, at 15, was shot on her school bus. Malala survived the attack and continued her campaign for worldwide girls’ education.

Lisa Lutoff-Perlo, president and CEO of Celebrity Cruises, said that Malala’s dedication to girls’ education sets an example worth following. “Partnering with Malala Fund was a natural fit as we share the same passion and commitment to an incredible cause. We believe in opportunities for all, especially as our crew onboard represents more than 50 different cultures—and amazing stories of achievement, education, and economic advancement.”

Malala traveled to Kenya and Rwanda in 2016 for her birthday, July 12, now officially known as Malala Day.
One of her stops included a NairoBits Trust class for girls.

Richard Fain, chairman and CEO of Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd, explained that Malala Fund advances one of the company’s key philosophies: that education is a great equalizer, providing opportunities to people who need it most.

Celebrity went on to honor Malala by naming her Godmother of its newest ship, Celebrity Edge, debuting in late 2018. “Malala is an inspiration and a voice of hope,” said Fain. “This young woman is on a powerful mission, and we support it 100 percent. We are deeply honored to name Malala the Godmother of Celebrity Edge, and we’re excited to team up with her and the Malala Fund to champion the global right to education.”

Philippa Lei, Malala Fund interim CEO, commented, “We cannot get 130 million out-of-school girls into classrooms on our own. We are grateful to generous partners like Celebrity Cruises who support our work to help every girl learn and lead without fear.”

This Calls for a Toast

For the fifth year in a row, Wine Spectator magazine honored Celebrity Cruises’ one-of-a-kind wine program with a whopping nine Restaurant Awards. The modern luxury cruise line now holds 48 accolades from the industry’s leading authority in all things vintage—more than any other cruise line in the world.

“Celebrity Cruises is committed to offering an unrivaled, truly distinct experience onboard our ships, and these wins reaffirm our commitment,” said Brian Abel, vice president of hotel operations.

Celebrity’s Main Dining Room presents more than 300 prestigious labels. The wine menus are continually updated in order to keep the offerings fresh and exciting, while representing the diverse destinations the cruise line visits across the seven continents.

Guests can look for a variety of onboard activities and experiences that revolve around wine education and enjoyment such as Riedel comparative wine glass workshops, wine and food pairing events, a wine-blending class, tastings, and more.

Additionally, Celebrity Cruises scored big again with Travel Weekly readers, winning Best Premium Cruise Line for nine consecutive years, Best Cruise Line in Europe for seven, and Best Premium Cruise Ship: Celebrity Reflection for eight. TravelAge West magazine honored Celebrity with the Best Onboard Dining award for the fourth consecutive year. All that winning certainly calls for a celebratory toast.
